Head Start in Business has been a driving force in entrepreneurship awareness and initiation for the past 15 years. Over 20,000 youth have participated in our innovative and experiential programs making entrepreneurship more accessible and realistic as a viable career option.

With only 16% of Canadian businesses being owned/led by women, the Government of Canada recognizes that advancing women’s economic participation in the economy is good for the country’s bottom line and has set the goal of doubling the number of women-owned/women-led businesses by 2025.
The NOW Program’s objective is to stimulate women-owned and women-led business start-ups and scale-ups in Northern Ontario.
The Lake Temiskaming Tour is a unique cross-border tourism initiative between Quebec and Ontario. With a focus on promoting sites, attractions and events all around Lake Temiskaming, this tourism circuit is a trip without boundaries showcasing the region’s Francophone, Anglophone and Algonquin cultures.
Partnerships and Resources
​Community Futures Ontario (formerly the Ontario Association for Community Futures Development Corporations Inc.) represents 61 Community Futures Development Corporations (CFDCs) - 37 in southern Ontario and 24 in the north - that offer free business counselling, loans for start-up and expansion of small business, strategic planning on local projects and community economic development in rural areas. CFDCs provide flexible, repayable loans to small and medium sized businesses and are locally managed by a volunteer Board of Directors and funded with federal government support.
Canada’s Regional Development Agencies (RDAs) are critical to accelerating recovery efforts, fueling the economy, creating jobs, and maximizing growth opportunities in municipalities and Indigenous communities across the country.
FedNor is a stand-alone agency for economic development in Northern Ontario. Through its programs and services, and through its financial support of projects that lead to job creation and economic growth, FedNor works with businesses and community partners to build a stronger Northern Ontario.
The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) is a crown corporation and development agency of the Ontario government that invests in northern businesses and municipalities through conditional contributions, forgivable performance loans, incentive term loans and loan guarantees.
Enterprise Temiskaming is one of several Small Business Centres (SBCs) located across the province. We provide entrepreneurs with all the tools they need to start and grow their businesses. Our business professionals will help you determine what you need to do before, during and after launching your business.
The Temiskaming Shores & Area Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit organization comprised of businesses, professionals, residents, and community groups working together to ensure a healthy economic and socio-economic base to benefit the entire community.
The City of Temiskaming Shores Economic Development department is mandated by the City to oversee local economic development. Its mission is to facilitate the growth of local businesses, to offer support to individual and collective entrepreneurship and to actively promote the City of Temiskaming Shores attractiveness in order to entice new business.
